James Goold & Co.

James Goold (Gould) commenced the building of carriages at Albany, New York, in 1813, and soon expanded to the building of coaches. Sometime around 1867 [“more recently” Bishop says in 1868] he began building railway cars, and in 1867/68 was building all of these, his factory occupying a square bounded by Division, Union and Hamilton streets. {399}
