An Autumn train ride with hot apple cider and a donut.

Celebrate the arrival of harvest season with a fall train ride. Embark on a 55-minute through rural Sauk County.

Aboard the train, passengers will enjoy a hot cup of apple cider and a donut.

The Harvest Flyer does not include a stop where you can purchase pumpkins. If you are looking for a ride with the ability to get pumpkins, please see our Pumpkin Special trains.

Duration

Ride time is approximately 55 minutes and travels 7 miles, roundtrip. Trains depart from, and return to, the Mid-Continent Railway Museum depot in North Freedom, WI.

Schedule

Due to high demand, a second departure time has been added to the schedule.

The first train will depart on Saturday, October 18th at 5:00 PM and will return at about 6:00 PM.

The second train will depart on Saturday, October 18th at 7:00 PM and will return at about 8:00 PM.

About the Ride Experience

The ride is scheduled to take place between 5:00 PM at 6:00 PM and should, weather permitting, occur during the “Golden Hour” when skies are most colorful. Sunset will be at 6:12 PM and it will be fully dark by 6:40 PM.

Although the cars are fully enclosed, the train cars are not heated. Because these trains will be operating into the evening when temperatures start dropping, it is advisable to bring layered clothing so you can adjust to the temperatures and/or bring a blanket along with you on the train.
