An Autumn train ride with hot apple cider and a donut.

Celebrate the arrival of harvest season with a fall train ride. Embark on a 55-minute through rural Sauk County.

Aboard the train, passengers will enjoy a hot cup of apple cider and a donut.

The Harvest Flyer does not include a stop where you can purchase pumpkins. If you are looking for a ride with the ability to get pumpkins, please see our Pumpkin Special trains.

Duration

Ride time is approximately 55 minutes and travels 7 miles, roundtrip. Trains depart from, and return to, the Mid-Continent Railway Museum depot in North Freedom, WI.

Schedule

Due to high demand, a second departure time has been added to the schedule.

The first train will depart on Saturday, October 19th at 5:00 PM and will return at about 6:00 PM.

The second train will depart on Saturday, October 19th at 7:00 PM and will return at about 8:00 PM.

About the Ride Experience

Sunset will be at 6:08 PM and it will be fully dark by 6:37 PM, meaning the first train will take place entirely during daylight and will be suitable for viewing the autumn landscape.

The second train will take place entirely after dark. The 7 PM train will not be suitable for viewing fall colors or the landscape (mostly unlit rural areas); however, it is a rare opportunity to ride aboard vintage 1915-era railcars at night – a completely different and unique experience. This will be one of only three Mid-Continent train rides offered after sunset this year!
