Schnabel Engineering Associates designed this car for high, wide and heavy
loads. You can read about a load movement of 1.3 MILLION pounds at the website of
the Arkansas Midland Railroad.
“Schnabel” type flat car built by
Greenville Steel June 1957 for Westinghouse to move transformers. The two
halves are bolted together for movement empty; are bolted to the sides of
the transformer for movement loaded.
